Victorinox Victoria Hoffritz Champion "B" - FOR SALE

 

Victorinox Victoria Hoffritz Champion "B", this Champion model dates from 1971-1973 based on the "Phillips" screwdriver being polished smooth with no file or can key slot. The fish scaler tool dates pre 1975 since it has no ruler markings. This knife has the long nail file and also has the inside radious sharpened on the bottle opener. The insert tools appear to be replacements so not original but the scales look original with very minor swelling at the insert end. The tang stamp reads "Hoffritz, Switzerland, Stainless" on the front side and "Victoria, Officier Suisse" on the rear. 

The condition of this SAK is good to average with the tools being in pretty good shape for its age. The blade might have a slight tip bend but it is hard to see. The long nail file tool is a little loose when it is deployed open but snaps open and shut as it should. With the exception of the opener layer all the tools snap open and shut properly. The opener layer is loose or lazy and I can not see any defects but it probably has a spring or liner issue. The scales are dull as expected with a used SAK and there is some slight age swelling near the insert end which is common for older SAK's. The scissors have some slight tip bend as well but work fine. Details on age of tools taken from the SAKWiki website.

Victorinox vintage Champion "B" with Long Nail File and Bail, technically model number 146fmaU this 6 layer Champion model was first introduced in 1952 and manufactured up to 1974. This one has the long nail file tool which mounts below the scissors in the same layer. This one also has the phillips screwdriver with file serrations on the inside to use as a file. The small clip pointed blade was changed to a spear pointed version after about 1973. This model is probably from the late 1960's to early 1970's.

This one has the long nail file tool which mounts below the scissors in the same layer. The small clip pointed blade was changed to a spear pointed version after about 1973. Victorinox Victoria Champion "A" Long Nail File

Victorinox Victoria Champion "A" 246fma, this Champion model SAK is older with the "Victoria" tang stamp on the back side of the main blade. It also has a couple tools no longer available on modern SAK's. The smaller clip pointed blade has no longer been used since about 1973. It was replaced with the modern drop or spear pointed blade. The Long Nail File tool which is mounted on the bottom side has a different story as there have been a few modern models with this tool but it appears in some early 1970's catalog pages but not after that. There is a modern Climber model with this tool but it seems the tool is no longer available except possibly in their older parts supply. This tool is commonly misused and broken. The mounting for it is only a small pin through 2 aluminium liners. If you are looking at photos of some Victorinox Swiss Army knives and the tool is not deployed so it is easily seen here is what to look for. The Scissors is mounted on the same end as the main blade to allow for the special spring underneath where the Long Nail File is. Also you can visibly see the end of the tool when looking at the bottom side of the SAK. There is also a small cut out in the aluminium liner for the nail nick to open it up. This is an original "Zermatt" leather pouch sheath with sharpener. The sharpener was missing so I bought a new replacement for it.
