This older Wengerinox marked Swiss Army knife has the Federal shield with crossbow over Suisse. The back side has a metal inlay that says; EIDG. Kl. Kal. Schützenfest 1953 Lachen Am See. The best I can figure out is regarding some kind of gun shooting contest from the Lachen area of Switzerland in 1953. Perhaps someone reading this can tell us better what it refers to. Elinox Victorinox Bantam Alox model 2230 r+(SOLD)

This red alox Bantam is an old Elinox model 2230 r+ from the 1960's era. It has the older ribbed alox scales in red with the triangular shield. Instead of a combo tool this knife has a regular cap lifter unpolished. The front tang stamp is Elinox with the crossbow and the rear tang stamp is Victorinox.

Old Victorinox Elinox 84mm Lumberjack

Here is an older Elinox marked Lumberjack. It is called model number 1240ku on the old catalog page seen here in the bottom photo. It has a main blade, a small clip pointed secondary blade, a wood saw and a bail. The shield is the old triangle Elinox style and is a nickel silver inlay. I am not exactly sure of the date for this knife but I am guessing the early 1970's or maybe even the late 1960's.

This red alox Secretary type knife has the Elinox front tang stamp but a regular 4 line Victorinox rear tang stamp. This is probably not the correct name but rather when the older knives were produced they had only model numbers given to them. From an old catalog page my guess is model number 1070r+. Victorinox Secretary - Military or Elinox Shield variant (1070 s+)

This Victorinox Secretary is different due to having an unusual style shield. This shield most closely resembles the Swiss Military crest found on soldier knives but also has been associated with the "Elinox" branded knives made by Victorinox. I have heard some call it a "federal" shield but I do not know which it truly is. Since this knife has the standard Victorinox tang stamp and not an Elinox tang stamp I am willing to speculate it could be a military design. Made of silver colored alox and having only 2 blades it is one of the slimmest knives that Victorinox makes.

Victorinox Elinox Serrated Camper with Pruner blade

Here is an "Elinox" tang stamp marked Victorinox Camper model with pruner blade and serrated main blade. The Elinox markings were part of the Victorinox line from 1957-1974. It was composed from the founder's last name "Elsener" and "Inox" for stainless steel. The rear tang stamp usually had the standard Victorinox lines. Generally the Elinox marked knives had this style of shield with a more curved look.
Some Elinox marked knives were supposed to be the "economy" line of knives but they were easily identified by having the shield "hot-stamped" into the handle. This knife has a regular nickel-silver shield inlaid into the handle just like the normal Victorinox line.
Usually Elinox marked knives also meant a somewhat different model of knife. Take this Camper for instance; it has a fully serrated main blade which was not common with Victorinox knives and a pruner blade to replace the normal small blade. Victorinox rarely used the pruner blades on their cellidor line of knives, although they do have the blade in some modern alox handled knives.

Update - Jan. 22, 2013; This knife was later introduced into the regular Victorin ox lineup as the 91mm "Picnicker".

Victorinox Ribbed Alox Cadet---vintage style

Here is a couple shots of a ribbed early model Victorinox Cadet. This model has a different shield. I have seen it called a "Federal" shield but it looks similar to an "Elinox" shield to me.
What makes this model more collectible is the changes made to the alox scales from the ribbed style as seen here to the modern checkered style seen on newer Victorinox knives. This model was probably made during the late 1970's to early 1980's.
