Victorinox Soldier 1997 - Armageddon movie souvenir. This 1997 Victorinox Soldier has the main blade marked with "Armageddon" for that movie that came out in 1998. There were several Victorinox logo sightings in the movie itself. Evidently the cast members were given special serial numbered versions and then there were these offered for sale too. This is the Victorinox Swiss Army Knife Collectors Society club knife for 2005. It is basically a Farmer model with copper alox scales and the Swiss Military shield. There is an engraving plate on the back side with VSAKCS on it. The blade has the year 2005 marked on it. This is one of the more highly sought after knives from the VSAKCS club knife series.

Wenger Standard Issue - 1964 Vintage Red Alox - Like New

Here is a pristine example of a 1964 Wenger Standard Issue Swiss Army Knife. It is nearly wear and chip free. This knife was issued to a Soldier who perhaps put it away and never used it. The 2 digit date code stamp is on the rear tang while the front tang stamp is Wenger Delemont. The front scale has the proper "W-K" stamp indicating it was issued from the Swiss Military. The individual tools are; a spear point main blade, a can opener with PAT marking, a cap lifter with sharpened wire stripper, an awl/reamer and a hollow rear rivet for fitting a lanyard.

This Wenger Standard Issue model of the Swiss Army Knife was made and issued to a Swiss soldier in 1964 as noted by the 2 digit year date tang stamp found on the back side of the main blade. This knife has some sharpening and loss of blade but all the other tools are in good condition.

These genuine Swiss Army Knives were made in red alox for a few years starting in early 1960's before they found out that the red wears off and leaves a less than desirable worn look to the soldier's knife. They then started making them in silver which shows little wear and keeps its good looks throughout the soldier's tour of duty.

Wenger discontinued production of the red alox knives soon around 1965 and made only silver alox versions afterward while Elsener/Victorinox continued to make red alox soldier knives from 1962 until 1968 and then again in 1970 and 1975. Elsener/Victorinox started to make silver alox soldier knives in 1965 and continued so with the unexplainable exceptions of 1972 and 1974 when they made no soldier knives, only Wenger did. While my Swiss Soldier Knife chart shows no 1961 alox knives were made by either manufacturer there have been rumors of a Wenger 1961 Red Alox Standard Issue but I have not yet seen one.

Here is a silver alox 1970 Elsener Schwyz Victoria Soldier model. The main blade has been re-profiled at the tip and re-sharpened. It has a good clear "WK" stamp on the front shield. The tang stamps are nice and clear and all the other tools are in great shape. It has alox liners.
