Wenger Wengerinox vintage Camper type SAK. This older fiber scaled knife with the older style can opener leads me to think it is probably mid 1940's. The can opener was replaced with a different style in the early 1950's. The shield is shown in this vintage Wenger shield lineup as an early shield design.

Elinox Red Alox Farmer Model 2224

Elinox is a trademark used by the Elsener family who owns and operates the Victorinox Swiss Army knife company. While the Elinox trademark is no longer being used currently it was used from about 1957 until the mid 1970's for these type of knives. These older red alox knives were given model numbers and this one is model 2224. It has the older plain cross style shield, red alox scales, brass liners and the Elinox front tang stamp with the Victorinox stamp on the back. Interesting to note on this knife are the holes in the rear rivet for the knife. The holes are on both sides and appear to be where a bail would have been mounted. I have seen this on multiple knives so I am sure it is factory produced. If there ever was a bail attached it has since been removed.

Vintage Wenger Farmers type knife with fiber scales (HORN)

Here is an old Wenger with Crossbow marked Farmers type of knife made for a hard working farmer. A wood saw was always handy on the farm. The marlinspike was originally intended to be used as a sacking needle on the farm. Some other tools choices were a pruning blade, an electricians blade, and other shaped awls. This knife measures 94mm's closed. There are larger ones made as well in different configurations. The scales are of a durable type of fiber made to take a beating. The steel used was more of a higher carbon steel rather than stainless steel. There were higher grade scale choices available like animal horn. These knives were designed to be used by civilian population but many times ended up in military personnel's hands too.

Edit 11/11/2023; Upon further examination I think this knife has horn scales. I have added a couple new photos at the bottom. There are some subtle color variations on each side which lead me to believe it is horn.
